"Exclusive Interview: Steve Lodge Reveals Shocking Truths About Local Crime - Don't Miss Out! 🔍🚨"

As the nation awaits the Prime Minister's decision on the General Election date, May 2 presents another opportunity for voters to participate in the democratic process.

On Thursday, May 2, all are encouraged to visit their local polling station (unless they've already submitted a postal vote) to elect a new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Devon and Cornwall. Issues such as burglaries, drug-related offenses, and anti-social behavior have tangible impacts on individuals, finances, and communities.

Recently, I had the opportunity to discuss these issues with Steve Lodge, the Liberal Democrat PCC candidate in Wadebridge. Steve provided valuable insights into the challenges facing North Cornwall and is dedicated to effecting positive change once elected. He asserts that years of inadequate resourcing have left local police forces overstretched and ill-equipped to address local crime effectively. The removal of over 4,500 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) from the streets since 2015 has only exacerbated the situation.

Steve Lodge and the Liberal Democrats advocate for a return to authentic community policing, where officers are visible, trusted, and empowered to tackle neighborhood crime, including burglaries. Steve highlighted that in Devon and Cornwall, the response time for a burglary is 22 hours and 11 minutes, significantly longer than in counties like Bedfordshire, where it's just 15 minutes. With only two other police forces in the country having longer response times than Devon and Cornwall, serious questions arise about the effectiveness of current strategies.
