"Pentagon's Secretive Stance on Weapon Use Sparks International Debate!"
The Pentagon avoided a direct answer regarding why there are restrictions on using certain weapons to strike targets outside of a conflict zone, as stated by a spokesperson during a briefing on May 21.
“Our policy has not changed – as the minister said," the spokesperson stated. "We are focused on providing the necessary forces and means for self-defense within the conflict zone’s borders."
This position contrasts with a recent announcement indicating no objection to using allied weapons to strike targets outside the conflict zone.
The U.S. "understands this" and will continue "these conversations" with involved parties and international partners, particularly regarding the air defense capabilities needed for self-defense, the spokesperson added.
