Kolkata, March 15 (PTI) The commercial services of India's first underwater metro train commenced in Kolkata on Friday, sparking excitement among hundreds of passengers on their inaugural ride.


The journey began from the Howrah Maidan station on the East-West metro corridor of Kolkata at 7 am, greeted by cheers and applause from commuters. Simultaneously, another train departed from Esplanade station.


Scores of commuters gathered at the stations early in the morning to experience the "first-day first underwater metro" ride.


At both stations along the 4.8-km stretch, passengers patiently queued up for tickets, while authorities handed out rose stems, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Anupam Kher remembers last conversation with Satish Kaushik three hours before his death: ‘Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted

  A ctor Anupam Kher shared a strong friendship with late Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik, who passed away last year, following a heart attack. Recently, Kher revisited his first meeting with Kaushik at drama school in 1975. The Saaransh star also recalled the last conversation that he had with his friend of 48 years, just three hours before  his death. Kher recalled that he was on a phone call with Kaushik just three before before he succumbed to a heart attack. During their conversation, Kaushik had mentioned that he was feeling unwell, and Kher had told him to get admitted to a hospital. "I told him, 'Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted. Go as if you are going to a resort'," Kher shared with Bollywood Hungama. Kaushik insisted on going in the morning, but Kher didn't give up. He told his friend, "You go now. Lie down and rest there.
