India is adjusting its defense procurement strategy in response to heightened tensions with Pakistan and China. Despite a modest 4.7% increase in arms imports from 2014–18 to 2019–23, Russia's share has sharply declined, dropping from 76% in 2009–13 to just 36%. Instead, India is increasingly turning to Western nations such as France and the USA, while also strengthening its domestic arms industry to meet growing defense needs.
