In Johannesburg, the former leader of "Africa's IKEA" had evaded legal repercussions for years, despite his board attributing a significant corporate fraud to him, which led to the downfall of the company that operated Mattress Firm.


On Thursday, following a substantial fine in South Africa for his involvement in the fraud, Markus Jooste tragically passed away from a self-inflicted gunshot wound near his residence in the coastal town of Hermanus.


Aged 63, Jooste served as the CEO of Steinhoff International, based in South Africa, until December 2017, when his resignation was announced amidst accounting irregularities.

Anupam Kher remembers last conversation with Satish Kaushik three hours before his death: ‘Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted

  A ctor Anupam Kher shared a strong friendship with late Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik, who passed away last year, following a heart attack. Recently, Kher revisited his first meeting with Kaushik at drama school in 1975. The Saaransh star also recalled the last conversation that he had with his friend of 48 years, just three hours before  his death. Kher recalled that he was on a phone call with Kaushik just three before before he succumbed to a heart attack. During their conversation, Kaushik had mentioned that he was feeling unwell, and Kher had told him to get admitted to a hospital. "I told him, 'Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted. Go as if you are going to a resort'," Kher shared with Bollywood Hungama. Kaushik insisted on going in the morning, but Kher didn't give up. He told his friend, "You go now. Lie down and rest there.
