In 2024, the number of individuals arriving in the UK via small boats has reached a record high for the first three months of the year, presenting a new challenge for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.


Provisional data from the Home Office revealed that as of March 26, a total of 4,644 people had been detected arriving across the Channel on small boats, including inflatable dinghies. This represents an increase from 3,770 during the same period last year and surpasses the previous record of 4,162 set in 2022.


Prime Minister Sunak's flagship initiative to deport unauthorized arrivals to Rwanda aims to dissuade individuals from undertaking perilous cross-Channel journeys. Legislation to implement this plan, following legal setbacks, is set to return to parliament next month.

Anupam Kher remembers last conversation with Satish Kaushik three hours before his death: ‘Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted

  A ctor Anupam Kher shared a strong friendship with late Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik, who passed away last year, following a heart attack. Recently, Kher revisited his first meeting with Kaushik at drama school in 1975. The Saaransh star also recalled the last conversation that he had with his friend of 48 years, just three hours before  his death. Kher recalled that he was on a phone call with Kaushik just three before before he succumbed to a heart attack. During their conversation, Kaushik had mentioned that he was feeling unwell, and Kher had told him to get admitted to a hospital. "I told him, 'Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted. Go as if you are going to a resort'," Kher shared with Bollywood Hungama. Kaushik insisted on going in the morning, but Kher didn't give up. He told his friend, "You go now. Lie down and rest there.
