"Birmingham City's Heartbreak: Relegation Drama Unfolds in Final-Day Showdown! Shocking Twist Spells Doom for Blues - Full Story Inside!"
Despite securing a final-day victory over promotion-chasing Norwich City, Birmingham City has been relegated back to English football's third tier for the first time since 1995.
To have any chance of avoiding relegation, Blues needed a win, which they achieved thanks to a 55th-minute header from South Korea international Paik Seung-ho, marking his first goal for the club.
However, their fate also depended on the outcomes of three other crucial games: Plymouth versus Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday versus Sunderland, and John Eustace's Blackburn Rovers versus Leicester.
Ironically, it was the two second-half goals from Sammie Szmodics, securing victory for former Blues boss Eustace, that ultimately sealed Birmingham's relegation. Eustace, who was sacked in October when his side were sixth in the Championship, inadvertently played a pivotal role in sending Blues down.
