Vote counting is currently underway in the Anglia region for the elections of police and crime commissioners (PCCs), with Labour celebrating a gain from the Conservatives in Bedfordshire.


John Tizard emerged victorious, defeating incumbent Festus Akinbusoye by a significant margin of over 5,000 votes in the county.


In other areas, such as Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, the Conservatives have maintained their hold.


PCCs are elected every four years to ensure accountability within their local police forces. Their responsibilities include managing budgets, appointing chief constables, and establishing priorities. In certain parts of the East of England, including Essex and Northamptonshire, commissioners also oversee the fire service.


Polling stations across the ITV News Anglia region have been counting votes, and you can follow the latest updates on the PCC election results.


The majority of counts are scheduled to commence on Friday, while counts for Hertfordshire and Thames Valley PCCs will take place on Saturday.

Anupam Kher remembers last conversation with Satish Kaushik three hours before his death: ‘Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted

  A ctor Anupam Kher shared a strong friendship with late Bollywood actor-director Satish Kaushik, who passed away last year, following a heart attack. Recently, Kher revisited his first meeting with Kaushik at drama school in 1975. The Saaransh star also recalled the last conversation that he had with his friend of 48 years, just three hours before  his death. Kher recalled that he was on a phone call with Kaushik just three before before he succumbed to a heart attack. During their conversation, Kaushik had mentioned that he was feeling unwell, and Kher had told him to get admitted to a hospital. "I told him, 'Go to the hospital, get yourself admitted. Go as if you are going to a resort'," Kher shared with Bollywood Hungama. Kaushik insisted on going in the morning, but Kher didn't give up. He told his friend, "You go now. Lie down and rest there.
